Harvest News

Harvest New

23 Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, 25 not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.  Hebrews 10:23-25

Connection Kids – Kari Watkins, Children’s Ministry Coordinator

This week we learned about the 9 of the 10 plagues of Egypt. It was a lot of material to cover, but the kids did well with it. Next week we will be learning about the last plague and the Passover. Our family watched the movie “The Prince of Egypt” this afternoon and as we watched it we used it as a review. We discussed where it followed scripture and where it didn’t. It was interesting! Here is this week’s family discussion page:

Title: God Sends Plagues on Egypt

Passage: Exodus 7–10

Principle: God is awesome and powerful.

Praise: “I Sing the Mighty Power of God”

Prompt: Ask your child these questions:

• What were Moses and Aaron to tell Pharaoh?

• How did God punish Egypt?

• Why did God harden Pharaoh’s heart?

• Why did God send the plagues?

Practice: Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:

• By submitting to God’s great power.

• By trusting God’s awesome plans.

• By telling other people about God’s greatness.

This Week: As a family, read portions of Exodus 7–10.

Memory Verse: “But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be

declared in all the earth” (Exodus 9:16).

Theology 101 - Would you like to go deeper in your understanding of God and His ways in such a way that both your mind and heart are touched and challenged? Former Bible college professor and pastor of Harvest Fellowship, Dr. Larry Siekawitch, will be teaching a ten week course on Theology 101, Sunday evenings from 6:00pm to 8:00pm starting February 12th. This is not a fluff class for shallow Christians, because God is in the business of making radical, mature disciples of Jesus Christ. The first four weeks we will cover God, creation and the Bible. The second four weeks we will deal with sin, Christ and salvation. The final two weeks we will discuss the Church and end times. Come see what the Bible says about these topics in a format where you can ask questions and get answers from God’s Word. Christianity is simple but deep. Even a child can understand the Gospel, but the most mature believer will always have room to go deeper because of God’s unfathomable nature. This is a class every Christian, whether brand new in the faith or a seasoned believer, will gain tremendously in understanding and loving God and His ways (Colossians 1:9-13; Philippians 1:9-11; Ephesians 1:17-19; 3:14-21; Hebrews 5:11-14; John 8:30-32).

DivorceCare Tim and Julie Goodner

DivorceCare is a divorce recovery support group where you can find help and healing for the hurt of separation and divorce.  If you or someone you know is thinking about divorce, or has been divorced, please tell them about DivorceCare. If you have any questions, contact Tim and Julie Goodner 253-1112. We would like to offer DC4K, the counterpart group for kids.  If you are interested in helping with this, contact Tim and Julie.

Spiritual Gifts Class – At Harvest we want to reach people for Jesus Christ, but we do not want to just make converts – we want to produce radical, mature disciples of Jesus. As part of our ‘relational discipleship’ and Growing in Christ Ministry, we are offering a Spiritual Gifts Class to help everyone in our church family discover their spiritual gifts and find a place where the Lord is calling them to serve.  The class consists of four sessions, but can be modified to meet the needs and time constraints of different groups.  The sessions are: 1. Spiritual Gifts  2. Personality/personal Style  3. Passion  4. Putting it all together.  For more information or to schedule the class for your group, please call Pastor Larry at 529-8838 or Gail Currier at 251-0342.

Pilgrim  - Back by popular demand after its November 2011 performances, Ransom Theatre and Fellowship Bible Church again present “Pilgrim”, a modern and musical adaptation of John Bunyan’s classic novel, Pilgrim’s Progress. “Pilgrim” is the entertaining yet powerful story of a young man’s journey to the cross and beyond as he follows the King to the Celestial City and is met by many friends and foes along the way. Put on by Christian youth from the St. Cloud area, “Pilgrim” is a student directed musical with the purpose of encouraging Christians young and old and sharing the Gospel with non-believers. The performances will be held at Calvary Community Church in St. Cloud on March 7th, 8th, and 9th at 7pm and March 10th at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 for students and kids, and $15 for families of 4 or more. With questions, email Alyssa Potter at pilgrimthemusical@gmail.com. Bring your friends and family! We look forward to seeing you there!
