Worship

At Harvest Fellowship we desire to reflect the Kingdom and the heart of God rather than a specific musical style.  As a worship community we desire to create opportunities for people to grow in their gifting, both artistically and spiritually. The worship team meets to practice at 7:00pm on Tuesday evenings.

†Genuine worship ~

We want to be real with God and express genuine worship to Him! God is Awesome and Holy and He is loving and close, so our worship expresses our relationship with this awesome, loving God! We love to exalt God because He is worthy! We also enjoy worshiping God. We agree with John Piper who said, “God is most glorified when we are most satisfied in Him.”

Aaron Sutton, Worship Leader

We are excited to have Aaron Sutton as our worship leader. He has a zeal to see God’s family worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth.  Aaron loves to work with our worship team and is committed to the Harvest Fellowship vision. A well trained leader, he is able to give away the ministry and see others shine. He has a passion to help raise up people to fulfill their God given talents, both through worship leading and guitar instruction. Aaron is loved and supported by his wife Kris, their six children (Abby, Ian, Matthew, Isabel, Emma and Eli) and 2 dogs!   Contact: akasutton@gmail.com

Harvest Worship Vision

“Worship” comes from the Old English word worthscipe, meaning literally “worth-ship”.  At its simplest it means to give worth or value to something or Someone.  What does that mean in real life?  We truly show that God is worthy when we glorify and exalt Him.  So what glorifies God and counts as real worship?  God has something to say about that in the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament.  Now, this is God’s definition of real worship, so we need to pay attention.

The Lord says:
“These people come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me
is made up only of rules taught by men.”  Isaiah 29:13

God says that real worship means coming near to Him with our hearts and honoring Him with our lives, not trying to impress anyone else around us with our plastic “religious behavior”.  God is glorified when we show Him that He is valuable and precious to us, from the deepest part of our hearts.

Our prayer is that God would receive glory as we are transformed into people who express real passion for exalting and loving Him with everything that we are.  Real love for God inspires us to live a lifestyle of worship – offering Him our lives, loving what He loves and serving Him with abandon, holding nothing back!  As we offer ourselves to God, we become more and more like His Son.  We grow to love what He loves and do what He does.  Our lives change!  Paul’s desire for his church family in Rome echoes my desire for us here

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.  Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect – Romans 12:1-2 NLB

As we live out a lifestyle of worship, we can’t help but be inspired to love one another better and to love lost people because God fills us with His desire to reach out to them through our lives.  Genuine worship connects us with God, with one another and with the world that He gave His only Son for!

Worship Scriptures:

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.  And be thankful.  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” -Colossians 3:15-17

But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship Him. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (Joh 4:23-24 CSB)
